Original Book of Hours leaf from Northern France, probably Paris, dated c.1470. Manuscript on vellum in dark brown ink with many illuminated initials and line fillers in blue, red, white and burnished gold leaf.
The two-line illuminated initial "D" begins the poignant Psalm 129 (KJV 130):
De profundis clamavi ad te Domine; Domine exaudi vocem meam... (Out of the depths have I cried unto thee O Lord; Lord hear my voice...)
The leaf is in very good condition, the ink has lightened over the centuries but the text is perfectly legible and the illuminations remain clear and bright.
Written area measures about 100x75 mm. Presented in a museum quality mat & foamboard backing, ready to frame. Unconditionally guaranteed genuine, Certificate of Authenticity included.
