Black Gin and Child. 1885 engraving

A poignant wood engraving of “A Black Gin and her Child”. The engraving is from Andrew Garran's monumental publication, "The Picturesque Atlas of Australasia", which was issued in weekly parts from 1882 - 1888.
Engraved on wood after the original studio photograph by John William Lindt (1845-1926).

Excellent condition, uncoloured as issued. Presented in a double mat with backing, ready to frame. Image size: 190x140 mm. Overall: 345x280 mm.
